I'm also a newbie I've planted onw box so far.I only included a stamp
and logbook as I figured the hunter would have their own ink pad and
pencil.Am I wrong for this and need to include an ink pad and pencil?

Hi,
They're not necessary, and half the time the ink pad dries out anyway.
The pencil simply makes it easier for someone to jot a note if they'd
like to.
I include them in my boxes for convenience. I'm sure that others will
be able to say what the guidelines are for this.
